Better than cheap shop masks. Jul 28, 2010 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009TCM1W/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title
I wanted something that wouldn't fog up my glasses or ripped apart so easily, like those cheaper shop masks.
A metal strip inside the mask and along the upper portion allows you to mold it to the contours of your face, giving a good seal, and the mask is roomy to give a larger pocket of air for breathing, making it cooler. The tie strings are a little difficult (being thin, flat, and paper-like) but you can manage them and tie the mask so it's tighter and better situated on your head, giving you a snugger fit than those cheaper shop masks with elastic bands (since the elastic bands on those easily rip out of the mask, ruining the whole mask, so these surgical masks are much better).
I wish the surgical masks were more durable cloth, but they are made of a disposable but sturdy paper-like material. Yet, a hand rinse in water and letting them air dry overnight and they can easily be used several times, as this material is several steps above paper towels, for example.
I used these masks to install insulation in my attic, and I will use them for shop work, too. I had to swap one for a fresh one now and again, as they got wet with breath condensation and sweat, but even then I did the whole attic job with just 3 masks, and I could reuse those once they dried.
I suspect a box of 50 will last me a long, long time, but I think it's well worth it to have a good product around when you need it.
